About The Position

Responsible for preparing laboratory specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. Organizes and prepares incoming tissue specimens for analysis. Prepares slides, performs special staining techniques and other histological procedures in a timely manner and accurate manner according to laboratory policies and procedures. Ensures proper documentation required or any consent forms needed are submitted. Maintains files, slides and blocks accurately and in a retrievable manner. Maintains equipment, chemicals and reagents in areas assigned to them. Participates in QC, QA and maintenance programs and follows all safety procedures. Performs other related duties with minimum supervision. Assures timely and accurate charging of procedures performed. Requirements

• Two years experience in a Histology laboratory is desirable.
• One year experience in Specials Stains and Immunohistochemistry.
• Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists is required, or eligible for certifications.
