SonoThera is headquartered in South San Francisco, CA. The Role The Gene Therapy group at SonoThera is seeking to hire a Research Associate to become an integral part of the gene therapy drug development effort. We seek candidates who think critically and have the desire and ability to learn new techniques. This position requires adaptability and an ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment. A qualified candidate will have broad technical experience in sample processing for histology. This job is a 6-month contract and will be expected to work 40 hours per week, with opportunity for conversion to full-time employee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in processing and tracking histology samples
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience performing FFPE and OCT sample processing, embedding and sectioning for a variety of tissues and species.
  • Experience preparing slides for DNA and RNA analysis (RNAscope, Visium, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience performing special stains such as H&E, PAS, Trichrome, etc.
  • Training in sample management workflows
  • Exceptional organizational skills including SOP documentation, and record-keeping using ELN platforms such as Benchling

Nice To Haves

  • Industry experience preferred
  • Experience preparing slides for DNA and RNA analysis (RNAscope, Visium, etc.) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • play an integral role in the histology analysis by establishing and executing a tissue processing pipeline on-site at SonoThera
  • work across teams to receive mouse, rat, and NHP tissue samples and prepare them for histology analysis
