Lab Tech Assistant – Histology/Cytology – Lorain Hospital THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION Shift/Schedule Full Time - 40 Weekly Hours Shift Times - Days/Afternoons Rotating Weekends & Holidays Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Lab Histology/Cytology Assistant position is an entry level position that performs routine functions to aid in the preparation of histopathology and/or cytology samples. The assistant works under general supervision of trained Histology techs and/or Cytology techs

Responsibilities

Performs multiple computer functions using the laboratory information system.
Performs secretarial and clerical duties (e.g., answering phones, assisting clients and patients, etc.)
Assists pathology, histology, and/or cytology staff.
Performs special procedures.
Prepares specimens, slides, blocks, reports, patient information, and other pertinent materials for mailing to referral sites or pickup by patients, family members, or physicians' office personnel.
May perform specimen collection.
