Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

• Associates degree in a science related field preferred.
• Two years additional training in biology, medical terminology, and laboratory sciences preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accessions specimens
• Specimen embedding
• Performs slide cover slipping and labeling as needed
• Manual routine and special staining
• Cleans and maintains instruments
• Assists pathologists with bone marrow procedures as necessary
• Specimen rotation/disposal
• Assists with inventory control
• Assists in accessioning, staining, and cover slipping specimens for Cytology when needed
• Other duties as required for departmental operation
• Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits
• Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct
