Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country. SHIFT: Full-Time, Days The Histocompatibility Technician performs numerous complex laboratory assays in response to physician, nursing and organ procurement requests. Supports the clinical, research and quality assurance procedures for the organization Transplant programs. Maintains records of performance and utilizes independent judgement to generate acceptable test results within quality control standards. May participate in research development activities. May act as a key resource for staff inside and outside of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Laboratory Sciences or other biological sciences is required.
  • Requires registration through a recognized board of registry (ASCP).
  • Requires the CHT or CHS certification within 2 years of hire.
  • Requires eligibility for ABHI CHT board certification.
  • Requires knowledge of various complex laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Requires knowledge of specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance procedures.
  • Requires knowledge of all laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
  • Requires basic computer skills.
