About The Position

The AML Business Advisor Senior position at USAA is part of the Hiring Our Heroes Fellowship Program, aimed at transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses. This role focuses on developing and implementing compliant Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) solutions to influence business decisions. The advisor will work on enhancing business programs and processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and leading cross-functional projects. The position allows for remote work during the fellowship and requires in-office presence for full-time employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 6 years of experience with credit cards and/or deposits or directly related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant industry technology applications such as credit card/deposit processing systems and process mapping tools.
  • Experience creating and implementing processes and procedures to enhance compliance adherence.
  • Experience in building solutions in an agile environment, including developing and executing testing strategies.
  • Knowledge of laws applicable to money laundering, including the Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
  • Intermediate knowledge of disciplined execution, change management, and risk management practices.
  • Experience leading change in a matrixed organization and cross-functional projects.
  • Experience supporting business processes to meet BSA/AML or similar regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Current participant in the Hiring Our Heroes Cohort 25-1 or a current USAA contractor in the 24-3 HOH Non-direct Cohort.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing and maintaining SharePoint sites (Cloud experience preferred).
  • Experience designing and developing reporting self-service dashboards and scorecards.
  • Ability to perform data analysis to assess operational performance and develop recommendations on future state metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide gap analysis and recommendations to enhance business programs, projects, and processes in support of AML/KYC initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities and implement business solutions to meet business needs.
  • Research, plan, develop, implement, gather requirements, and create procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with enterprise partners in operational and risk functions when developing business rules and requirements.
  • Serve as a coach and on-the-job trainer for other team members.
  • Maintain awareness of primary regulations applicable to regulated financial institutions in the U.S.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
