Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of work experience as a coder with a portion of the coding experience inpatient focused.
• Certification by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - OR - certification by American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC).
• High School Diploma, GED or Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Applies the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval and analysis.
• Processes claims for inpatient and outpatient encounters.
