The USF Privacy & Healthcare Civil Rights Compliance program (Privacy Program) is responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance by the USF Health community, USF Tampa General Physicians (USFTGP) and the USF HIPAA Covered Entity. The HIPAA Covered Entity is composed of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, and its constituent schools and departments (including its School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences); Taneja College of Pharmacy; USF Student Health Services; USF Health Neuroscience Institute (Home of the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr. Alzheimer's Center); USF College of Behavioral & Community Sciences, Department of Communication Sciences and Speech Disorders; USF St. Petersburg campus Family Study Center, Infant Family Center; the advance practice providers under USF College of Nursing; USF Medical Services Support Corporation (MSSC); University Medical Service Association, Inc. (UMSA); USF administrative and operational units that support them including all physicians, other healthcare professionals, faculty, employees, trainees, students, volunteers and other personnel of the Covered Components and others serving in a Business Associate capacity on behalf of USF Health. The Privacy Program is also responsible for providing privacy compliance services to USFTGP. The Privacy Program is responsible for complying with all federal and state privacy laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. The Privacy Program establishes organizational policies and procedures required by law and the organization to prevent, detect, and correct conduct in violation of federal or state privacy laws and the privacy policies of the organization. The Privacy Program is responsible for HIPAA privacy education, monitoring, and reporting violations as required by law. The Privacy Program also reports privacy risks to the USF Chief Compliance Officer, USF Health leadership, USFTGP leadership and the respective boards.
