Rome Health is seeking an HIM Specialist: POSITION SUMMARY: Performs assigned duties during the daily course of operations for the HIM department. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must function as part of a team and exhibit a positive, cooperative attitude at all times. Familiar with privacy and confidentiality regulations specifically surrounding release of protected health information (PHI). Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Ability to type and navigate multiple computer software systems required.
• Ability to use a scanner, fax machine, copier required.
• Must possess critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Must possess excellent attention to detail as duties may involve handling or releasing patients' PHI.
• Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time with occasional interruptions.
• Must understand and always follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and confidentiality regulations related to releasing PHI.
• Must be proficient with typing at a computer, use of a scanner, printer, fax machine, telephone.
• excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Associates degree preferred.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
• Notary Public or eligible preferred.
