About The Position

The Release of Information Specialist (ROI Specialist) is responsible for processing most release of medical information by examining electronic, patient portal and paper based records to determine type of document, scope of authorization and legality of release in a timely and efficient manner. At all times, the ROI Specialist must safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are compliant with federal and state privacy laws according to Community Medical Center's policies and procedures. Collects fees and reconciles cash drawer as appropriate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required.
• Successful completion of a college level course work, medical terminology course preferred.
• 2 years of hospital clerical, or general office experience required.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Outlook and basic typing skills required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Release of Information experience preferred.
