About The Position

Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is a 120 bed capacity behavioral health facility that provides psychiatric services. We specialize in treatment for adults, children and adolescents. Brentwood Behavioral offers both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. Located in Flowood, MS, in Rankin County with close proximity to Hinds and Madison Counties, our outpatient services are within driving distance to many surrounding areas. Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dynamic and talented HIM/MEDICAL RECORDS SPECIALIST / TECH (PART-TIME). The Medical Records Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of medical records and release of information requests. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and supporting the integrity of patient documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years experience in a psychiatric or CD inpatient, residential or group home

Nice To Haves

• Preferred: Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field
• HIM certification eligibility and relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Processing patient discharges within 48 hours
• Assigning ICD-9CM codes
• Abstracting medical data
• Analyzing charts for completeness and compliance
• Managing data entry into automated systems
• Filing essential medical documents
• Upholding strict confidentiality standards
• Maintaining professional boundaries and effective communication with staff
