About The Position

The position involves assisting with overseeing functions of associates in the file room, archives, distribution center, and the release of information and physicians' incomplete records area of the Health Information Management department. The role includes training new hires, prioritizing workflow, and ensuring coverage for all shifts, including weekends and holidays. The individual will maintain the integrity and accessibility of patient medical records, resolve problems, and assist in requesting and receiving department supplies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) or more years' experience in a hospital Health Information Management Department preferred.
  • Proficiency in keyboard operations and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Understanding of privacy and security of patient information.
  • Knowledge of birth certificate and paternity acknowledgement processing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • RHIT or RHIA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee functions of associates in the file room, archives, distribution center, and release of information areas.
  • Train new hired associates.
  • Prioritize workflow and assign tasks to associates.
  • Ensure all areas are covered for essential workflow.
  • Maintain the integrity and accessibility of patient medical records.
  • Schedule coverage for all shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Perform functions in the absence of associates.
  • Resolve problems and report issues to Operation Manager or Director.
  • Request and receive department supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.
