About The Position
The HIM Director (RHIT- Registered Health Information Technician) is responsible for ensuring that patients' files are properly maintained and can be retrieved upon request or scheduled appointment. This role includes performing clerical tasks necessary for the proper maintenance of patients' medical records, carrying out correct reconciliation of all discharged records, and ensuring necessary follow-up for missing documents. The HIM Director will prep, scan, verify, and index all patients' records within 24 to 48 hours of discharge, ensure that physicians properly sign, date, and complete patients' records before signing them off as duly completed, and arrange records from the skilled nursing facility for storage. Additionally, the HIM Director will log records into the system, scan/photocopy records, receive and send information through a fax machine, carry out periodic medical record chart audits and reviews, and take telephone calls to provide answers to questions regarding patients' medical records. This role will also be the department head for HIM, assisting with all job duties related to the health information management team and managing HIM team members.
