This role is responsible for maintaining and improving the integrity of Connecticut Children's data through investigating, identifying, and correcting discrepancies within the medical record. The data integrity specialist supports the chart correction process by collaborating with diverse healthcare teams across multiple disciplines to ensure all necessary corrections are validated and accurate. Education Required: High School Diploma, associate's degree or equivalent work experience. Experience Preferred: Minimum of 2 years' experience in Health Information Management or other health care setting preferred Epic EHR experience preferred Strong customer relations and communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Familiarity with the Chart correction/patient merge process such as Epic HIM/Identity, OnBase ECM/Media Manager, e-MPI Management, PHI Quality Analysis, and Patient Registration Familiarity with HIPAA privacy laws. Skilled at: Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong analytic and problem-solving skills Ability to: Search databases and apply critical thinking to identify correct patient clinical, financial and demographic information in accordance with established procedures. Interact professionally with managers, and other key stakeholders including medical personnel. Performs quality analysis using established data-mining techniques to identify and resolve potential duplicate patient medical records. Responsible for the investigation, identification and correction of discrepancies within the patient medical record. Coordinates with clinicians, and ancillary departments to facilitate required correction requirements to efficiently resolve chart corrections and patient demographic overlays. Provides ongoing data integrity analysis assuring correct identifying information is maintained in support of patient care and patient safety.
