Under direction of HIM Director, oversees coders and provides technical expertise of coding. Coordinates coding and mentors and trains new coding staff. Adheres to all duties of a certified coder. Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or three years of related experience.
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), required. Certification must be current.
  • Strong background of diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding principles for Critical Access Hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, professional E&M levels, and Rural Health Clinic.
  • Proven track record of achieving and maintaining a 95% coding accuracy rate.
  • Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and ability to control demeanor in challenging situations.
