The HIM Coder position at Virtua involves coding and abstracting hospital medical records, which includes various types of records such as Inpatients, Observation, Outpatient Surgery, Invasive Outpatients, and Emergency Department cases. The coder will utilize federal and state procedures and guidelines to ensure the accuracy of coding and abstracting, while also meeting productivity standards. This role requires collaboration with medical staff and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams to clarify documentation and ensure compliance with corporate standards. The coder will maintain performance in accordance with corporate compliance requirements related to coding and abstracting medical records, as well as the assignment of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG).
