About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for filing, retrieving, delivering, and maintaining patient medical records and performing other related duties. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Retrieves medical records promptly for all authorized users, in all requested available formats. Scans and/or files all medical records onto the correct patient chart as outlined in accordance with the policies and procedures. Perform entry-level data entry into the patient chart as needed. Receives and correctly distributes records. Releasing information to individuals or agencies in accordance with HIPAA. Checks filing shelves for the accurate and correct filing of patient information. Purges medical records according to retention schedule... Maintains confidentiality of all patient and personnel information. Clearly understand the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Expands job-related knowledge and skills to improve and adjust to change. Participate in departmental Quality Initiatives. Attend scheduled in-service that pertains to the hospital as a whole or to the Health Information Department. Attend Health Information Management meetings. Keeps the department clean and neat in accordance with safety and infection control requirements. Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the Health Information Department. Performs other related duties as may be assigned. Performs any other clerical duties as assigned by the department manager. Use of Cerner EHR, desired. Skilled in filing alphabetically as well as numerically, organizing and prioritizing work in a timely manner, using interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative relationships, and reacting and performing under pressure to accomplish multiple tasks. Able to operate various types of office equipment, including fax, copier, phones, shredder, etc. Follows written as well as oral instructions.
