About The Position

As an HIM Associate II at R1 RCM, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. Your role involves preparing, scanning, and organizing medical records to ensure compliance with health information standards. This position is crucial for maintaining accurate health records and supporting various healthcare operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to navigate multiple systems to collect and enter patient information.

  • Experience with R1 software (epars, PAS, Chart Manager).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and state guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Complete health record deficiency related to patient care, regulatory compliance, legal, and reimbursement activities.
  • Release medical records for various requestors while adhering to HIPAA and state guidelines.
  • Interview patients for birth certificate completion and enter information into the electronic state registry.
  • Enter and update R1 software for central business office requests, denials, and DNFB activities.
  • Manage transcription issues as directed by the R1 transcription team.
  • Perform EMPI functions to ensure the accuracy of the facility's master patient index and medical records.
  • Monitor task queues for data integrity issues and resolve them within designated time frames.
  • Initiate the medical record suspension process according to facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform medical record deficiency analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter governmental requests into the appropriate RAC Tracker.
  • Perform quantitative reviews of medical records and monitor the quality of global team functions.
  • Maintain data collection spreadsheets as required.
  • Order departmental supplies.
