We are currently seeking a Junior Highway Engineer to join our team in one of our Northeast offices. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to contribute to a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects while developing technical skills and gaining exposure to multidisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in highway or transportation design
  • Familiarity with roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and traffic engineering principles
  • Experience with design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts and/or Connecticut DOT standards is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of highway and roadway projects under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documents using OpenRoads, Civil 3D, and MicroStation
  • Support the production of design deliverables for preliminary, right-of-way, and construction phases
  • Perform engineering calculations related to roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and roadside safety
  • Participate in internal project meetings and coordinate with other disciplines
  • Contribute to project documentation, reports, and specifications
  • Support project scheduling and budgeting efforts as needed
  • Engage in learning opportunities and seek mentorship from experienced staff
  • Help ensure compliance with relevant DOT standards and procedures
