By joining our Signals Crew in Boone County as a Highway Traffic Technician Assistant in Boone County, you'll have the opportunity to learn to perform a variety of unqualified general labor functions to support the Installation and maintenance of low voltage electrical traffic control devices, such as solar school flashers, beacons, and LED-enhanced signs.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Learns to perform a variety of general labor functions in support of unqualified electrical device maintenance and installation including a computer and basic software, operate basic tools and equipment such as fire extinguishers, utility locators, single axle truck (dump, flatbed, or pickup), and serial lift truck to perform unqualified work. Assist qualified staff with energized work.
  • Learns basic engineering related duties on small tasks such as reporting work to underground facility protection services, reading basic construction plans and specifications, and learning about proper documentation.
  • Places temporary traffic control devices and serves as flagger during maintenance activities. Serves as man on the ground and/or spotter during maintenance activities.
  • Assists employees with on-call duties and emergency calls.
