About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Four years of education and/or full-time experience in highway maintenance or equipment operation
• Possession of a valid Commercial Learner's Permit upon hire
• Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements within five months of hire
• Pre-employment drug screening and ongoing participation in random drug and alcohol testing program
• Post-offer, pre-employment physical verification of physical ability to perform job duties

• Pesticide/herbicide certifications
• Experience in highway maintenance or equipment operation

Responsibilities

• Mowing and cutting brush along roadways
• Disposing of litter and debris
• Repairing roadside waterways
• Operating snow removal equipment
• Assisting with grading and paving projects
• Supporting paint and bridge crews
• Participating in traffic control for maintenance activities
• Performing routine maintenance and service of DOT equipment and vehicles
• Using DOT technical devices and software applications
• Completing other duties as assigned
