By joining our Pike County Phelps Unit as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Pike County, you'll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance operations.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have two years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a Class B commercial driver's license.
• Must successfully complete the KYTC Highway Technician Academy Level 1 or equivalent within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Basic equipment operating experience.
• Basic maintenance or construction experience.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on vehicles or equipment.

Responsibilities

• Hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operating dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months.
• Operating a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers.
• Learning and assisting with basic surveying activities on construction projects.
• Flagging for operations requiring traffic control.
