By joining our Caldwell County Unit as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Caldwell County, you'll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance and operations.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
• Within 12 months of employment, must furnish documentation of holding a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
• Must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training within one year of employment.
• Must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Learn and assist with basic surveying activities on construction projects, maintenance and repair of roadways.
• Haul materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader to work in the winter months.
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
