By joining our Project Delivery & Preservation Branch II as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to you’ll have the opportunity to operate basic automotive and power equipment used in road construction and maintenance such has single axle trucks (dump, flatbed, pickup), snowplow and salt spreaders. Summary of Responsibilities: Use construction equipment to maintain roads Use equipment to control vegetation along roads. Participate in snow and ice removal during inclement weather events Perform traffic flagging operations during road maintenance Ideal candidate will have experience in: High school diploma or equivalent Driver’s license Eligibility to obtain a Commercial Driver's License Basic maintenance or construction experience Willingness to work outdoors Benefits and Perks: Comprehensive health with optional dental and vision insurance. Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
  • Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
