Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the division crew.
  • Maintaining public relations with the community.
  • Overseeing operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Providing effective summer and winter maintenance of highways in accordance with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Highway Supervisor II: Diploma from a recognized two (2) year civil engineering technology program in a related field; and a minimum of three (3) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience OR high school graduation or GED; and six (6) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Highway Supervisor I: Diploma from a recognized two (2) year civil engineering technology program in a related field; and one (1) year of related work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience OR high school graduation or GED; and four (4) years of winter maintenance work or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Possession of a valid New Brunswick Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Recent road construction and/or road maintenance experience.
