About The Position

Moffatt & Nichol's Transportation Group works on traditional design bid build and design build roadway and bridge projects across the US. Our Raleigh, NC office is actively looking for a mid/senior level Highway/Roadway Engineer to join our Raleigh office. As the successful new hire, you will provide project management to a variety of transportation design projects - roadway, structures, signalization, signing and pavement markings, drainage, ITS, etc. You may manage projects across the Southeastern US. It is desired that you will have familiarity with a variety of civil engineering type projects, have relevant roadway design experience and a strong background with municipal, state DOT and regulatory agency policies. Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering or related
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in transportation (highway/roadway) engineering design projects
  • Professional Engineer licensure in North Carolina or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Project Engineer/Design Lead experience
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design tasks for roadway and municipal transportation projects from preliminary to final design
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
  • Maintain and establish working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT and state clients, as well as private clients
  • Provide engineering design services for traditional design-build and design-build highway projects
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
  • Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action
