About The Position

Operates excavator during ditching operations on shoulder crew. Precision holding grade with excavator needed to ensure no standing water in ditches. Operates excavator in the repairs of cross lines and driveway pipes. Makes sure ditches are clean with neatness and sloped just right for not erosion. Performs manual labor in the laying of pipe for drainage purposes, in the loading and unloading of bagged cement during skim patching operation and other maintenance activities required. Sets up work zone traffic control in preparation for the shoulder work operation according to the traffic control manual and clears roadway and takes up traffic control when work is completed. Flags traffic during shoulder work to ensure the safety of the traveling public and fellow workers. Operates motor grader used for pulling high shoulders into the roadway to be taken up by belt loader. Makes sure shoulder is level with roadway to ensure no water ponding on roadway. Precision operation is needed for neat work performed and done in a timely manner.

Requirements

• One (1) year of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry to the position.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
