JMT's hands-on Internship Program provides opportunity to work first-hand on real projects with experienced staff in our McKinney, Texas office. Responsible for various tasks and projects to enhance their experience in the field utilizing their education. This position is not eligible for employer based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Familiarity with MicroStation, Power Geopak, and OpenRoads Designer is a plus
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and design standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Enter data into systems
• Make edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projects in MicroStation with Power Geopak and OpenRoads Designer
• Obtain design data from adjacent or similar projects and go-bys
• Work with a team to coordinate new small-scale projects
• Assemble data and research such as specific design standards and site information
• Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals
• Assist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects
• Develop and prepare specifications
• Maintain accurate and current project documentation
• Participate in weekly seminars and end-of-internship presentation through the JMT Internship Program
