About The Position

Currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms, JMT offers a hands-on Internship Program that allows interns to work directly on real projects alongside experienced staff in our Shiner, Texas office. This internship is designed to enhance the educational experience of civil engineering students by providing them with practical, real-world applications of their studies in transportation projects. As a Highway Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for various tasks and projects that will help you gain valuable experience in the field. Your responsibilities will include entering data into systems, making edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projects using Microstation with Power Geopak and OpenRoads Designer, and obtaining design data from adjacent or similar projects. You will work collaboratively with a team to coordinate new small-scale projects, assemble data and research specific design standards and site information, and provide input on solutions to problems using basic engineering theories and fundamentals. Additionally, you will assist with the layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects, develop and prepare specifications, and maintain accurate project documentation. Participation in weekly seminars and an end-of-internship presentation is also a key component of the JMT Internship Program.
