About The Position

As a Highway Designer working in the Mid-Atlantic Region, you will focus on multiple projects ranging from small transportation enhancements, small bridge projects to large highway/interchange projects. These projects may include intersection improvements, road widenings, bridge rehab/replacement designs and major interchange designs. This position is available in the Mechanicsburg, PA office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0-3 years of experience in highway transportation design.
  • Relevant internship experience or coursework will be considered.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license with a history of safe driving practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, or Geopak preferred.
  • EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of highway and transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable design criteria, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare engineering documents for project advertisements and construction under the supervision of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Collaborate with the highway design team to deliver projects following Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) standards and specifications.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, technical analysis, and assist in the preparation of design plans.
  • Support project budgeting, cost estimating, and scheduling efforts as needed.
  • Participate in site visits and field assessments to collect data and ensure design accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to coordinate project activities.
  • Travel to project or client sites for meetings and project-related tasks.
