What You’ll Do as a Highway Design Engineer Provide design support for highway projects, including drainage systems, roadway alignments, and geometric design, using industry-standard roadway design software. Prepare comprehensive plan sets, detailed specifications, technical reports, and accurate cost estimates. Maintain detailed records of highway design documents, reports, and budgets. Ensure all designs comply with applicable state and local standards, regulations and safety codes. Promote and support QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality deliverables. Collaborate with internal teams, clients, subconsultants, and public agencies, including state and local DOTs, to support seamless project delivery. Support project managers with schedules, documentation, and presentations. Assist with field inspections and roadway data collection. Requirements What You Bring, Your Expertise as a Highway Design Engineer B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, Master’s preferred 5-10 years of transportation experience with a background in highway design. EIT required; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure. Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
