Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, Master’s preferred
  • 5-10 years of transportation experience with a background in highway design.
  • EIT required; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
  • Familiarity with state DOT design standards (NYSDOT or PennDOT preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide design support for highway projects, including drainage systems, roadway alignments, and geometric design, using industry-standard roadway design software.
  • Prepare comprehensive plan sets, detailed specifications, technical reports, and accurate cost estimates.
  • Maintain detailed records of highway design documents, reports, and budgets.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable state and local standards, regulations and safety codes.
  • Promote and support QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, subconsultants, and public agencies, including state and local DOTs, to support seamless project delivery.
  • Support project managers with schedules, documentation, and presentations.
  • Assist with field inspections and roadway data collection.
