About The Position

Parsons is seeking a dynamic and seasoned professional to join our team as a Principal Level Highway Design Engineer, supporting the landmark NYSDOT I-81 Viaduct Project! This $2.0B project, the largest in NYSDOT’s history, is transforming the fabric of Central New York. For 80 years, Parsons has been a leader in the integrated design and delivery of civil infrastructure. With a robust backlog of work in both conventional and design/build project delivery, we are looking for strong leaders who can lead projects and mentor a team of engineers and designers. This role is available on a hybrid schedule in New York state, with remote options available for qualifying candidates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with highway geometric design background.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate may be required, and candidate should be on the PE track.
• Proficiency in CAD (Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads) and other PC software packages commonly used in engineering.
• Experience with NYSDOT highway design projects preferred.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements.
• Defines the problem, establishes the work scope, prepares the budget and schedule, plans the work, provides technical direction, and reports the work status.
• Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
• Develop detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
• May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
• Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower level Engineers working on the same project.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by the position.
