About The Position

The Highway Construction Inspector at Alisto Engineering Group is responsible for ensuring compliance with construction activities on NYSDOT roadways. This role involves overseeing work zone traffic control, certifying work against plans, and maintaining documentation throughout the construction process. The inspector will work primarily in Westchester County, NY, and may also extend to NYC, requiring a valid driver's license and personal transportation.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required; Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree desired.
• NICET Level II or above in Highway Construction or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in NYS highway inspection, structural, utility, and traffic signal work or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations with current OSHA-10 hour Construction Safety training.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to decipher utility and highway maps, drawings, plans, cut sheets, sections, and specifications.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with NYSDOT regulations and procedures.
• Familiarity with construction units of measurement.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Work Zone Traffic Control provisions of Traffic Control Plans and NYSDOT Standard Specifications.
• Certify each item of work conforms to provided Plans.
• Oversee all sampling done at the job site, including site soil density measurements and core boring.
• Attend weekly construction meetings and maintain all required documentation on site.
• Document field changes and submit upon completion of work to the client and/or permitting agencies.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment as needed.
