About The Position

This is a temporary Higher Promise Intern position within the Pediatrics Unit at Bronson Methodist Hospital. The individual will perform various tasks specific to the assigned area or department, which may include routine work, project involvement, data collection and entry, and document review. For roles involving direct patient care, specific competencies for the served population are required. The position may involve clinical tasks such as patient assessment, vital signs, medication reconciliation, routine testing, documenting patient information, administering treatments, and obtaining specimens. Alternatively, it may involve technical tasks related to software specifications, hardware requirements, process improvement workflows, system documentation, project planning, test script creation, educational materials, and monitoring computer equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Promise-eligible and currently or previously enrolled in a degree- or certificate-seeking program or vocational school
  • Must be proficient in working with computers, fax machines and phone systems
  • Must also be organized and able to pay special attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to exchange information on factual matters, interact professionally with customers and employees throughout the organization
  • Ability to work with end user software specifications, hardware requirements and process improvement workflows (for Technical Area)
  • Ability to create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials (for Technical Area)
  • General familiarity of end user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications in a healthcare delivery environment (for Technical Area)
  • Excellent telephone presence and interpersonal skills (for Technical Area)
  • Good customer service skills with the ability to communicate both orally and in writing (for Technical Area)

Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks in the area/department for which they are reporting

  • Reviewing documents
  • Prepare patient for examination including patient assessment, histories, vital signs, medication reconciliation, and routine testing of hearing, vision or other (Clinical Area)
  • Document pertinent information in chart (Clinical Area)
  • Maintain documentation standards and review chart prior to appointment to assure requests and documents are in place (Clinical Area)
  • Administer treatments as requested by the physician (Clinical Area)
  • Obtain specimens for urine testing, phlebotomy, etc. (Clinical Area)
  • Work with end user software specifications, hardware requirements and process improvement workflows (Technical Area)
  • Create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials (Technical Area)
  • Monitor and control computer equipment and/or online applications according to daily shift schedule (Technical Area)
