Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services

At Alstom, we design, build, and service the transportation systems that move people-high-speed trains, metros, monorails, trams, signaling systems, infrastructure, and digital mobility solutions. With more than 80,000 employees worldwide, we're committed to accelerating greener, smarter mobility and reducing carbon emissions across the globe. The High Voltage Technician will safely operate bench test equipment and perform validation, diagnostics, and repairs on railroad components-such as batteries, compressors, electronic/electrical/mechanical controllers, and high-voltage subsystems-while meeting production targets. This role involves hands-on work using both manual and power tools, performing automated and manual tests, and collaborating closely with engineers and shop management to maintain quality and safety standards.

  • Strictly adhere to established safety protocols in the Technical Work Center and at the New Castle facility
  • Assemble, validate, troubleshoot, and repair high-voltage components and systems
  • Conduct validation, repair, and testing of wire harness assemblies, including operating test equipment to confirm integrity
  • Assemble and maintain electrical and mechanical systems-routing wiring, installing connectors, and servicing contactors
  • Perform flow testing and diagnostic routines on high-voltage systems
  • Assist in the design, build, and calibration of bench test equipment
  • Operate test instruments including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, meggers, hi-pot and high voltage DC/AC power supplies
  • Safely use power tools (e.g. drills, pneumatic presses, pneumatic tools) and hand tools (e.g. crimpers, strippers, torque wrenches, etc.)
  • Cross-train across departments-HVAC, electromechanical systems, electronics-as project needs dictate
  • Use Microsoft Office (including Access) to produce test reports and perform analysis
  • Input, track, and document completed tasks in SAP
  • Mentor and assist other technicians in shop processes, safety standards, and best practices
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to Technical Engineers or Shop Supervisors
  • High school diploma (required)
  • Technical or vocational school degree preferred
  • NFPA 70E certification (preferred) or equivalent military electronics background
  • Hands-on experience in high-voltage testing, validation, and repair
  • Proficiency with standard electronics test equipment (digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics
  • Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance and safety risk assessment
  • Solid foundation in electronic principles, circuit design, and testing methodologies
