About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Four years of journeyman electrician experience or relevant military background.
  • Extensive hands-on experience working with voltages up to 230KV.
  • Proficiency in inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing advanced control circuits.
  • In-depth understanding of and experience performing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Strong personal computer skills for documentation, communication, and data analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in power generation or heavy industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices and compliance standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and piping & instrumentation schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal systems, and communication systems.
  • Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment, including high-voltage systems up to 230KV and switchyards.
  • Perform journey-level electrician work, including the installation and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and controls.
  • Design, install, repair, and splice circuits, conductors, buses, and shielded cable, including conduit installation and support.
  • Create sketches, drawings, and designs for electrical circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair advanced control circuits such as backup fuel, load shedding, boiler latch, unit tripping, and transfer circuits.
  • Perform commissioning and calibration of control valves, and temperature, pressure, and level transmitters.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot DC emergency battery backup systems, including batteries, chargers, buses, disconnect switches, and locating DC grounds.
  • Test and inspect electrical components, including current transformers, high-voltage wires, collector plates, and insulators, using tools like meggers.
  • Inspect, adjust, test, and repair rotating and non-rotating electrical apparatus, including solenoids and electrical valve operators.
  • Perform electrical system isolations according to industry standards and train others in electrical safety programs.
  • Use tools, equipment, and materials responsibly, conducting basic inspections and preventive maintenance prior to use.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and environmental permits to ensure accident-free operations.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records by documenting maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues about equipment conditions and plant performance, providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Respond to emergencies as directed, at any time.
  • Participate in planned outages by providing technical support for maintenance, repairs, and inspections of electrical systems.
  • Perform oxyacetylene cutting, shielded metal arc welding, and carbon-arc cutting.
