The primary purpose of Electric Distribution Systems (EDS) is the distribution of electricity to the various buildings on the University campus and to the UNC Hospitals. This is accomplished through a complex system of 12kV underground circuits in duct banks run all over campus, which is controlled and protected by a modern relay and control system. EDS is part of Energy Services. This position will support Electric Distribution Systems (EDS) in the distribution of electricity to the various buildings on the University campus and the UNC Hospitals. This position will work directly under the guidance of skilled power technicians. While under supervision, this position will have the opportunity to engage in preventive maintenance activities for both underground and overhead distribution systems and assist high voltage specialists in maintenance and/or replacing electrical equipment such as transformers, switches, light poles and more.
