About The Position

The National Security Agency (NSA) is offering a High School Work Study (HSWS) Program specifically designed for high school juniors who are interested in gaining practical work experience in Morse Code. This program is a competitive opportunity that allows students to participate in a paid part-time internship during their senior year, providing them with hands-on experience in a unique field. The internship will run from August 2025 to July 2026, requiring students to work 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Students will be compensated at a rate of $15 per hour and will have the chance to earn paid leave, including Annual Leave and Sick Leave, at a rate of one hour for every twenty hours worked. Successful completion of the program may lead to permanent employment opportunities within the NSA. To qualify for the HSWS Program, students must be at least 16 years old by December 31, 2024, and must be U.S. citizens eligible for a security clearance. Additionally, students should have an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher and must be enrolled in or have completed a higher-level Computer Science course before finishing their junior year. The program is particularly focused on students who are currently enrolled in Computer Science courses, as they will utilize their technical knowledge to perform daily duties related to Signals Analysis, with a primary focus on international Morse code communications. The application process requires students to coordinate with their High School Work Experience Coordinator to understand the specific application procedures and course requirements. Applications must be submitted online by October 1, 2024, along with necessary documentation, including a Student Evaluation form, an official transcript, and a resume detailing relevant coursework and the position applied for. The work schedule is structured with core hours from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, and students must report between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM. The maximum number of hours a student can work per week is 32 hours, ensuring a balanced workload while gaining valuable experience in a government setting.
