About The Position

The Student Success Coach serves as an ambassador for GCC's Pathway to Success program, focusing on middle and high school students. This role involves providing comprehensive guidance on various college services, including Admissions, Financial Aid, and Advisement, to support student recruitment and retention. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including evening and weekend hours, and involves travel to local high schools and campus centers.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working with students in a K-12 or higher education setting.
  • Excellent written, oral, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation.
  • Experience with student information systems (e.g., Banner) preferred but not necessary.
  • High level proficiency using Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to diversity and accessibility solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete and direct advisement and assistance to students and their families seeking enrollment services.
  • Develop individualized educational plans and strategies to improve student success and aid in recruitment and retention.
  • Organize and participate in workshops and information sessions related to Financial Aid, Admissions, and Registration/Orientation.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director to market the Pathway to Success program and recruit new students.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention events planned by the Director and Assistant Director.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance personal and professional growth.
  • Initiate contact and follow-up with students and families from local rural high schools.
  • Serve as a liaison for students transitioning to working with Pathway to Success Coaches.
  • Maintain accurate student data and comply with grant regulations.
  • Provide referrals to internal and external services for student success.
