About The Position

The High School Specialist at Jensen Beach High School is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising programs and activities aimed at engaging high school students. This part-time role focuses on fostering a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence among youth, while ensuring their emotional and social development. The specialist will work closely with Club Members to provide mentorship, guidance, and support in their academic and personal growth.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED (or working towards).
  • Must be passionate about working with kids, with experience being a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a level II background check and drug screen.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications (or obtain within the first three months of employment).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth in grades 9-12.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and supervise programs and high-yield learning activities for Club Members.
  • Follow the Youth Development Strategy to instill feelings of Belonging, Usefulness, Influence, and Competence (BUIC).
  • Ensure engagement and promote consistent attendance of youth in activities.
  • Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring and guidance.
  • Plan special events such as guest speakers, performances, or field trips.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure the safety of members, maintaining a staff-to-member ratio of 1:25 or less.
  • Support members' emotional and social development, encouraging positive self-concepts.
  • Plan and facilitate purposeful and engaging activities and group projects.
  • Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other administrative duties.
  • Gain knowledge of grant outcome expectations and report results as requested.
  • Provide active supervision and motivation to all members.
  • Ensure program area cleanliness and proper equipment use.
  • Discipline members fairly and consistently according to established policies.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to members and peers.
  • Work with volunteers to guide them regarding member activities.
