About The Position

At the heart of GLOW Academy is a focus on “whole girl” education, aiming to foster leadership and confidence in students, build family support, and engage all students in a rigorous college preparatory program. Requirements

Have a passion for Spanish
Commitment to support student mastery of content
Possess critical thinking skills
Possess the willingness to collaborate with colleagues and school families, doing “whatever it takes”
Experience teaching the North Carolina State Standards for High School Spanish
Feel competent to teach in a diverse and ever changing learning environment
NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades
Demonstrated ability to teach high school and/or grades 6-12 with a passion for and competency in the appropriate subject area
Demonstrated ability to build a warm and inclusive classroom environment
Demonstrated ability to implement positive behavior practices
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students and families to support student success
Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study
Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities
Possession of a valid TB test issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority

Responsibilities

Support student mastery of Spanish content
Set students up for success in college and beyond through critical thinking skills
Collaborate with colleagues and school families, doing “whatever it takes” to achieve the vision for students
Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment
Implement positive behavior practices

Develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study
