About The Position
The position involves teaching courses in social studies, history, geography, American government, political science, or humanities to secondary students. The instructor will utilize the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and implement appropriate learning activities. The role includes instructing students in citizenship and the basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. The teacher will develop a balanced social studies program that includes factual background material, current events, discussion time, and other activities designed to encourage students to develop skills and attitudes, draw conclusions, achieve improved interpersonal relationships, and make value judgments based on scientific methods of inquiry. Additionally, the teacher will provide individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.
