About The Position

Kindle Farm School is seeking an inspired and fun individual to teach Social Studies to High School aged students with a diverse set of skills and interests. This position requires a strong background in Social Studies, with a supporting transcript from all post-secondary educational institutions attended. Kindle Farm School believes that students learn best when their relationships with instructors are strong. Therefore, this position requires strong people skills, the ability to set firm but respectful limits, and diverse recreational interests. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to provide experiential education with the capacity to connect Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, and Historical and Social Thinking processes to authentic learning units for our students. This position is not a traditional teaching position, in that many students participate in a strong vocational component in their day, including but not limited to Agriculture, Carpentry, and Forestry. Many of our students have had negative reactions to traditional classroom settings. In our school, they are served in small classes with high staff to student ratios and natural incentives. Most of our students have Individualized Educational Plans created in conjunction with their sending school districts.
