We are proud to offer our students post-secondary pathways through three Future Ready Institutes: Coke Cola Business Pathway, CHI Memorial Pathway of Healthcare and Medical Careers, and the Pathway of Integrative Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources. In addition, Hixson highlights the arts through our orchestra, concert and jazz bands, concert and show choir, drama, and award-winning visual arts program. Hixson has a plethora of advanced and extended learning opportunities to include: Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and State Dual Credit courses. Additionally, Hixson High furthers its opportunities for students through its award winning JROTC Air Force. Students can participate in an array of sports, clubs, and organizations including but not limited to: football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, golf, bowling, soccer, baseball, softball, cheerleading, track and field, FBLA, HOSA, FFA, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Chick-Fil-A Leadership and Academy. We are looking for teachers who are committed to children, who are able to connect and relate with a diverse student body, and who respect all cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Candidates should be competent in subject matter, willing to be pedagogically coached, and committed to being a team player.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Valid Tennessee teaching license in 6-12 Science OR current enrollment in an accredited teacher preparation program
- Positive, student-focused educators with strong content and classroom management skills
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Committed to high expectations and academic achievement for all students
- Open to feedback, coaching, and continuous growth
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Title I or high-need school settings is a plus
- Passion for supporting the whole child academically and socially
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess effective instruction aligned to Tennessee state standards
- Design engaging lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes
