About The Position

The mission of Evansville Christian School is to empower students to embrace a biblical worldview through spiritual & academic growth, servant leadership, and authentic relationship in the name of Jesus Christ. The High School Resource Assistant will support students at ECS alongside the Resource Teacher. This position requires a person who desires to support high schoolers as they work toward their educational goals. The assistant will support teachers in implementing student accommodations; encourage spiritual growth through biblical application and integration; and, support the school’s mission, vision, and philosophy.

  • Hold at minimum a high school diploma with experience working with high school students

Responsibilities

  • Proctor assessments in order to ensure appropriate accommodations are provided to students
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning for students with various learning needs, in accordance with IEP, CSEP, ILP, or 504 Plans, including separate testing sessions, reading tests aloud, one-on-one help within the classroom, pull out sessions, interventions, effective use of tools to complete assignments (computer, calculator, manipulatives), and behavior plans.
  • Model, teach, and practice effective study skills for the development of student ownership of self-discipline and proper study habits.
  • Support English Language Learners (including engaging in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders).
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, educational professionals from local school corporations, and school-based education intervention teams to provide optimum learning resources for students.
  • Model spiritual discipline through prayer, Bible study, and Christ-like character and provide opportunity and accountability for students to develop spiritual growth.
  • Build relationships with students and staff to encourage effective collaboration.
  • Supervise students to provide an overall environment of safety within all areas of the school.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and initiative in completing all duty assignments, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating accountability to the teaching team.
  • Work effectively with grade level team members, school faculty, and staff to implement the mission of ECS.
  • Perform other school duties as requested by the resource teacher.
