About The Position

Under general supervision of Principal answer high school switchboard, hand held radio, and perform receptionist duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One year experience in a clerical position, school setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including data bases and word processing programs.
  • Manage personal and professional tasks through the use of technology.
  • Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds), climbing stairs, reaching, squatting, kneeling, having full mobility of fingers/hands, and moving light furniture may be required, unless ADA accommodations have been mutually agreed on and does not create an undue hardship upon the district.
  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions (blood borne pathogens, body fluids, etc.)
  • Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, multi-media equipment including current technology as needed.
  • Must be able to work within various degrees of noise and temperature.
  • Interruptions of work are routine.
  • Flexibility and patience are required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision.
  • After hours work may be required.
  • May work under stressful conditions on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Answer switchboard and direct calls.
  • Check students in and out daily.
  • Direct visitors or callers to an appropriate individual only with appropriate documentation (I.D./driver’s license).
  • Enter student attendance daily and research discrepancies in attendance with teachers/parents.
  • Enter and file student medical excuses daily.
  • Generate attendance/grade reports for different Agencies.
  • Update Attendance on Testing-period dates.
  • Assist in running/distributing rosters for Substitutes.
  • Assist in entering attendance from Substitute rosters.
  • Assist in submitting attendance from student call-in voicemail.
  • Assist in generating Parent Portal information.
  • Answer hand held radio and relay messages.
  • Maintain and update staff telephone extension list and radio list.
  • Receive and distribute student deliveries.
  • Receive and deliver student and staff telephone messages.
  • Assign student lockers and Assign athletic class lockers.
  • Submit inventory request/work order for School Nurse.
  • Update information from Student Verification forms.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters.
  • Be flexible and able to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Report to work on time and work no less than 7 hours per day.
  • Work independently with very little supervision.
  • Attempt to deescalate parents/students; listening/visiting with them about their concerns prior to them meeting with administrators.
  • May be required to perform related functions as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Issue and handout report cards and student schedules when needed.
  • Complete Homework Request.
  • Generate Student Bus slips.
  • Prepare Attendance for Feeder Route.
  • Take care of student change/money box.
  • Complete Social Security paperwork for students/Income Support.
  • Update Names/phone numbers in computer from returned mail.
  • Send for students for School Based Health Center.
  • Maintain lost and found items of staff and students.
  • May be required to prepare and make daily announcements.
  • Supervise student aides.
