About The Position

The High School Principal is a critical leadership position that supports the Head of Academics & Activities/Assistant Head of School in cultivating a Christ-centered, mission-aligned learning environment that promotes academic excellence and Christ-like character. This role provides leadership and support for high school faculty and students while ensuring a safe, structured, and mission-aligned learning environment. The HS Principal serves as the primary leader for school culture, the daily management and operations of the high school campus, faculty supervision and evaluation, and instructional excellence. The HS Principal partners with the HS Assistant Principal in matters of student discipline. This position champions Rejoice Christian School’s mission and the outcomes outlined in the Portrait of an RCS Graduate, functioning as a visible, relational, and spiritually grounded leader within the school community.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or Administration (preferred)
  • Completion of a Christian Philosophy of Education course (ACSI)
  • Current or eligible ACSI Certification
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience
  • Extensive experience in classroom management
  • Thorough knowledge of school administration, supervision, and instructional practices
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional programs appropriate to the high school level
  • Strong belief in and commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Rejoice Christian School
  • A committed Christian by both profession and lifestyle
  • Professional, pleasant, and approachable demeanor
  • Motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills and initiative
  • Strategic thinker able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate teachers and departments, including formal and informal observations
  • Provide instructional leadership and feedback that supports academic excellence
  • Enforce school policies and the student handbook consistently and fairly
  • Serve as the head of the high school leadership team
  • Assume responsibility for campus leadership and decision-making
  • Meet with students, parents, faculty, and staff to address concerns and maintain documentation
  • Support faculty with curriculum development, classroom management, and parent communication
  • Oversee scheduling, room assignments, and school start-up needs
  • Assist with substitute teacher coverage as needed
  • Lead faculty recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts
  • Support professional development and accreditation processes
  • Model the Characteristics of Professional Excellence in leadership and relationships
  • Establish and sustain a Christ-centered school culture focused on character formation
  • Partner with the High School Assistant Principal on student discipline and behavior management
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of expectations, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain a visible presence through hallway supervision, arrival/dismissal, and school events
  • Oversee supervision of common areas to ensure safety and structure
  • Collaborate with the Head of Academics & Activities/Assistant Head of School and administrative team on student concerns
  • Participate in new student and parent orientation
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and mission-aligned school climate
  • Lead the development and implementation of an effective instructional program
  • Ensure alignment with state standards and RCS’s Biblical worldview
  • Promote instructional excellence through observation, data analysis, and best practices
  • Support curriculum alignment and continuous improvement
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and faculty interviews
  • Supervise and support counselors and Learning Services personnel
  • Ensure instructional practices reflect the Portrait of a Graduate
  • Partner with campus security to oversee emergency preparedness and safety procedures
  • Supervise and respond to drills and emergency situations
  • Ensure student safety by proactively addressing risks and concerns
  • Support the maintenance of a clean, organized, and welcoming campus
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional ethics, and integrity
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and spiritual growth
  • Attend and support school-wide events, chapels, and extracurricular activities
