The position involves planning and delivering engaging Physical Education (PE) and Health lessons that align with state standards. The educator will teach students about various health-related topics including physical fitness, health, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, mental health, and human anatomy. The role requires developing and implementing age-appropriate physical activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and skill development. Additionally, the educator will differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs, and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, participation, and fitness evaluations. Maintaining accurate grading records and communicating progress with students and parents/guardians is essential. The educator will also use assessment data to adjust instruction and provide additional support when needed, work with colleagues to integrate health and wellness topics across the curriculum, and manage, supervise, and organize locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other athletic areas within the department. Standards Based Grading will be utilized to assess all students, and the educator is expected to stay current with educational trends, health guidelines, and best practices in physical and health education. Attendance at staff meetings, in-service trainings, and professional development workshops is also required.
