About The Position

Seeking a sound design engineer who works closely with the director, musical director and other designers to create the artistic vision of the production through sound, using microphones and sound effects. The role involves producing a written sound plot for the production which includes tracking all onstage, wireless, pit and offstage microphones, as well as producing a sound materials list, including any special sound effects that are needed. The sound engineer will place and maintain all speakers and microphones, and anything else required in coordination with the technical director to ensure readiness during technical rehearsals. Additionally, the engineer will train student sound operators on proper use of sound equipment, attend production meetings and rehearsals as needed, and be available during technical rehearsals to troubleshoot all sound issues. Maintaining communication with the director and technical director is also essential.

Requirements

  • Experience preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and motivated; self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Required criminal history background check.
  • Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status.
